Concerned about the environment? We are. Here’s why:

Construction and maintenance of buildings accounts for over 2/3 of the total energy consumed in the U.S. Buildings also consume vast quantities of natural resources in the form of construction materials. As designers in the building industry we consider it our responsibility to make efficient use of those resources and to advise our clients on the environmental impact their projects will have.

The conversation about environmentally responsible building construction has grown to include issues ranging from energy efficient air conditioning blowers, to considerations for preserving wildlife habitats… and everything in between. We help our interested clients find an environmentally responsible design solution that reflects their specific values and interests.
We approach environmental design the same way we approach other design issues. We work with our clients to discover their needs and interests, and then we go to work, with creativity and energy, to develop a plan that solves everything - a plan that includes environmental and efficiency features and also negotiates among budget and function and beauty.

The LEED rating system developed by the US Green Building Council is a powerful tool that we use as we practice environmental design. It provides a means for evaluating the environmental friendliness of a building construction project that considers all of the issues that are within the scope of the project. We feel that the LEED system offers a rational approach to design in an area of construction that comprises a dizzying swirl of competing demands.
